Who is your favorite guitarist? Yet alone who do you think is the best? My favorite is Eddie Van Halen.

My peronal favorites Alex Lifeson of Rush and John Petrucci of Dream Theater are not up there, so I had to go with Jimi.

Hey Elliot, nice poll.... I voted for EVH. He truely is great and has impacted the instrument in so many ways. Some of my favorite guitar players might be guys you've never heard of...Neal Schon from Journey rules, Steve Lukather from Toto is absolutely awesome, Frank Gambale is a genius. Robben Ford is a blues genius. I recommend that you listen to all of these guys, also, don't forget about one of the most underrated guitarists-ACE FREHLEY-- he was really melodic and wrote great riffs, even if you don't like KISS, he is someone you should listen to. Playing guitar is about incorporating as many different styles and influences as possible. All of the guitarists I mentions have their own niche in the music world. And once you get to a certain level in your playing, no-one is really the BEST anymore. They are all just different from each other..

He was only here for a short time, but evertime I hear Randy Rhodes, especially on tunes like "I Don't Know", he was incredible. Anyway, they are all very different, and depending on my mood, they're all the best. I really get into Stevie Ray though.
