Well sadly the show is quickly heading to the final episode.. I am going to miss it.. I am going to miss writing these blogs.. But the good news about all this is that the show is getting more and more entertaining each week.. and this week I feel was no exception..
This week the rockers had to sing a cover plus an original.. They sang the songs in a row..which was kind of cool.. sometimes shows will break them up. This was nice because you got to really compare the two..
First up was Dilana her Cover was Behind Blue Eyes.. and I thought the performance was just ok.. The start of the song felt a little off to me.. slightly out of tune to my ear for some reason.. The start of this song is slow and it builds to a Rockable point.. but at even at that point I dont feel Dilana rocked it hard enough. Especially not enough to overcome the weak start.. Dilana is starting to disappoint me and I am really pulling for her..
Next came her original and once again it was just ok.. it didnt really keep me interested and it kind of dragged on.... She really seems to struggle with the chorus part of a song.. and there is no distinct seperation from the chrous and the lyrics.. no voice fluctuations.. thats what makes it drag and not appealing..
Next up was Magini.. Back in the USSR was his cover.. I thought it was bland.. not really rocking.. he sang it ok I guess.. but it again was kind of like Dilana.. he sang the whole song with no fluctuation in his voice and the build to the chrous was terrible in my opinion.. I didnt dig it.. Next was the original.. and another not that great of a song.. nothing memorable about it.. like the cover no real extra emotion or fluctuations in his voice.. very bland and boring..
Next was Strom.. Her cover was David Bowie's Suffragate City.
She got a surprise because Dave Navarro wanted to play with her.. and how did she do? I thought she did awesome.. great performance with alot of interesting.. very entertaining.. I didnt think vocally she was 100 percent on but she performed the hell out of it and really had great chemistry with Dave Navarro.. Next was her original. This song rocked.. everything that Magni and Dilana didnt have Storm brought on.. she was confindent had fluctuations in her voice.. that made the song interesting.. vocally good sounding and performance wise great.. she has come to the forefront.. she is showing the energy Dilana had a few weeks back..
Next up was Lukas . His cover was Livin on a Prayer by Bon Jovi.. and true to Lukas form he made it his own and tweaked it.. he chose to play the song slowed down with just him playing the guitar and no house band.. It was interesting..but I liked it.. I like his song alot and I know that the rockers didnt care for it all that much.. I would have prefered to have had this song rocked but Lukas made it interesting and his own.. Next was his original.. I thought it was a great song.. it had a great rock sound to it in the build to the chorus.. I loved the chorus to the song.. was memorable and it made you want to sing along to it almost immediately.. Dave Navarro made the comment that it was a raise your lighter in the air type of song.. and that was true.. but a really good song in my opinion..
Last was Toby - his cover was Mr. Brightside. by the Killers..
Now I am not a big fan of Toby's but I thought he did a pretty good job at the Killers.. he comes with a good positive energy.. next was his original and I was waiting for him to fall down on this one.. but it wasnt the case.. he had a really good original song that was catchy and appealing in every way.. he had some ooo ooo ooo's in it that I didnt care for but without that I would have thought it was a great song.. a good job..
So the rating..
I would have to say that Lukas and Storm were just about equal in my opinion.. So they should be tied at 1. Great performances by both and great originals..
Next I would put Toby.. he did a good job on his cover and his original was really good.. his performance was entertaining and his song was catchy..
Next I put Dilana.. she really is going downhill quick and her positive energy has been drained out of her and it is showing.. she is showing the disappointment of getting bashed by the public and not having great performances.. she needs to take a lesson from Storm and get positive and have fun.. if she does that she may gain her edge back.. but it may be too late..
Magni I have never been overly impressed with.. I feel he is a good singer but he is really not that great of performer in my opinion and he is really weak in his songwriting.. this could be his week to go home..
So we will see.. the rankings after the first couple of minutes were..
1 Toby
2 Lukas
3 Magini
4 Storm
5 Dilana
