Interesting night to say the least.. a rockstar show... nah.. a Super Bowl Half time show maybe.. a hippie jam.. maybe.. but I wasnt getting the rockstar vibe this night.. boring and uninspiring. to say the least.. ahh well the review..
1- Dilana - Cats in the Craddle - about the only performance that felt Rockstarish.. good and the best of the night but only because everyone else had wierd slow songs and she was one of the few that put rock into her performance..
2-2- I am not even going to put a 2 and 3.. I would have to get a toss up between Ryan and Lukas.. Lukas and Hero still had some rock qualities to it... not a big fan of the song.. I thought him sitting down took alot of edge out of his appeal.. he needs to prance and get in your face to maintain his rockstar appeal.. but it did show a different side to him and I felt he did pretty good.. Ryan I thought did really good with his Genesis song.. he is a solid top 3 candidate in my eyes right now not a bottom 3.
4- Dave Navarro doesnt agree with this one.. Storm.. everyone in Super Nova and Dave thought she sucked.. I thought she did pretty good.. and NO I am not really a Storm fan but I thought she got raked over the coals undeservingly..
5- Magni..- this was a Super bowl half time performance not a rockstar.. puzzling song.. I didnt know who it was until they told me it was Bowie.. David Bowie does confuse me.. so I guess thats why I am not digging it.
6- Zayria - shocker.. I am not putting her at the bottom - the song was another Super Bowl half time highlight but interesting.. first time her vocals didnt make me want to scream or laugh hyserically.. not bad.. not a rocker though.. although I do admit it has hints of Evanescence in it..
7- Toby - why did everyone say this was a good performance.. I thought he butchered it.. no origanaility to it and the timing was off.. the boom boom boom part especially.. he strugged with it in rehearsal and it showed in his performance.. I was thinking of Boom Boom Boom lets go back to my room so we can do it all night... instead of the song he was singing.. everyone thought it was great but was that because Gilby was playing with him.. I dont know..
8- Patrice.. a weak and dull performance.. she is always on he verge and not showing us any progress or things that would set her apart.. they said she was great vocally I thought she was in tune but in parts was very weak.. Its probably her time to go home...
Thats it folks.. how about some other people comments.. am I the only one watching this show???

Dave, I agree with you, although I love Dilana, I thought Ryans was the best of the night. He was great on the Genesis tune, and it had a great concert type appearance to it. I thought Lucas did a great job, I still think it comes down to him and Dilana for the job, but some of the others really are coming into there own. I thought the weakest of the night was Patrice, it's time for her to go......

So Zayra is finally gone its about time.. what were they thinking keeping her around.. but really the whole night was nothing short of dismal.. What does everyone think of the Super Nova song with Dilana as the lead singer.. I didnt mind Dilana as the lead singer but I kinda thought the song sucked. I didnt really feel anything catchy or remotely appealing.. if some independent group released that song I doubt you would ever hear it again. Am I the only one who shares this opinion??
Then the bottom 3.. I thought it was just about right.. maybe Toby in place of Magni.. but they to me are interchangeable. as far as the performances.. My GOD!!!.. Zayra was nothing short of herself in her song.. terrible beyond belief.. I had to change the channel.. but it was like a trainwreck you just couldnt stop looking at it.. all I can say is what in the crap was that when it was all over.. but thats what I usually say about Zayra's performances.. So at that point I pretty much knew she was gone.. I think someone could have went up and Sang the ABC's and Super Nova would still have had to send Zayra packing.. but then Patrice came up.. from the first couple of words out of her mouth I was gagging.. terrible.. terrible.. terrible.. way out of tune.. it made me wonder how she even got this far.. but like I said before I thought this would be her night to go.. Then Magni.. he did all right.. but if you remember Lukas did Creep also.. and if you would compare the 2 Lukas totally kicks the crap out of Magni.. but how could you even think of sending him how with the performances of Patrice and Zayra.. Then the decision and of course finally, thank god, praise the lord,, Zayra is gone.. the only mistake they made was I thought this would have been the perfect night to cut two people loose again.. both of them deserved to go home this week.. I would think Patrice is headed home next week unless she finds some way to salvage herself.. but until next time ....Keep you feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.. my favorite quote.. who knows where its from?? who is still reading this?? boy this is a long message.. I wouldnt even read it.. hehehe

I have agree with DaveRocks on the SuperNova song. Dilana did a great job but the song was nothing to get excited about. I personally think she is way bigger than that song...It did nothing for her. I found it menotinous... no real hook... just the same over and over. "yeah yeah".
I will also agree with Dave that it is about time Zayara went. However, I do think she is a great performer....terrible singer...but you can't stop watching her. Very much like the early Madonna days. If she can get her voice together she may have a career.
I didn't think Patrice did a bad job on the song last night...but she sucked the night before. I like her voice when she's on..she's just so inconsistent and when she's off...she's really off. I do think she will be the next to go.
Now this is where we disagree. I don't think Toby and Magni are interchangable at all. Toby should have been in the bottom three. Toby is easy on the eyes...but I cannot stand his voice. It's whiney to me and he can't sing without his accent coming through.
On the other hand...Magni has a really good voice and good control. I consider Magni a true contender...He'll definitely be in the top 4.
As for "Creep" I didn't think Magni's version sucked. It was good. It was done with a completely different feel than Lukas' version. I do, however, prefer Lukas' version cuz I am an "in your face shred the vocal chords" rock fan all the way. I almost think Lukas is too had core for the "pop" "yeah yeah" SuperNova we heard last night. I hope their other songs are heavier. It was disappointing when they played and thats what came out...much like the newer Collective Soul stuff.

I agree on the Super Nova song all the way.. interesting point on Lukas being too hard core for SuperNova.. the song was really cheese pop to me and not rock like you would expect. Who knows..?? but you have to question which direction they are going because of the song choices. They have a lot of song choices that are in the crap pop genre.. I dont mind pop music but I definately could pick out better pop songs then the ones they are presenting to the contestants.. Dave N... made a comment on the song choices.. he said that he didnt care for them and if he made the song choices you would know the difference.. This all is kind of disappointing in a way.. they get you going and have a couple of legit rockers like Dilana and Lukas performing and they probably would have been better off gettining Taylor Hicks as thier frontman..

I don't get it, Super Nova said song choice is key ...doesnt Super Nova pick the songs they want the people to sing? If they don't like the song selection why even put those lame ass songs on the board ! Now lets talk about Zayria or whatever the hell her name is! I am glad she finally got the boot and in my opinion the only reason they kept her this long is to see what the crazy bitch was going to wear the next week She can sing (In her native tongue) but has a little trouble with pronunciation in English, that made the songs drag because she was trying to hard. I am sure she will have a nice career in her home land and will most likely have a cross over CD in a year or 2 .

Exactly Flaggy...
The songs are picked out by the SujperNova boys... and they throw in crap like "I will survive" in to the mix...then spank the person who ended up with it. Thats just one example, there are so many more just like it.
I don't know if they are trying to create more controversy by adding an obvious dud in to the song selection, hoping to see a down and dirty fight to not end up with it or what. But I say...you picked the crap don't complain about the song choice (someone has to end up with it) and concetrate on the vocals.

I dont know what to think about the song selections.. Dave Navarro has a internet radio program and I was listening to it yesterday. He was bitching about the songs and telling people not to blame him for the song choices. He did make a comment that "If you guys want to hear Foo Fighters then write them some letters so they will release it" I did hear that for every song that is on the show that CBS has to have the rights to it and certain artists most likely will not release the rights to thier songs. I would think Metallica would be a huge group to deny the rights to thier songs on the show.. After all they were the ones against Napster and just recently they finally started letting their catalog go on Itunes. So that may have something to do with the whole song choice thing and why songs from the members of the groups Super Nova have been in have not been a part of the song selections. For anyone that wants to hear Dave's radio show goto www.spreadradiolive.com .. its kinda cool he swears and everything since the FCC cant censor the internet.. he plays tunes also.. Iron Maiden - The Trooper was the song I heard.. \
