hey everyone........Saturdays show at Badger Bowl didn't go down with out its complications! On the way to the show, our truck by all outward appearances blew its engine . We were 15 minutes south of Oshkosh when this happened.....we were aiming to be at BB no later than 4pm for set-up. The original idea was to cancel the show......an hour 15 back to green bay to get another truck, hour and 15 to get back to the broke down truck...30min to transfer the gear.....hour and a half to the club.....that would get us to BB at about 8pm.....4 hours later than we had hoped! See if we could set-up and do a professional and flawless show with only 2 hours set-up, we certainly wouldn't try to be at the venue 6 hours early!! Make sense? Well we made the calls to the agent who then called the club and between the two of them they felt that even if we started 45-60min. late it would be worth the trip........so the above actions transpired!!!
Truck got to Badger Bowl at 8pm.....we had told the folks at the club not to expect a start time of any earlier than 10:30pm.....The band and the crew worked our asses off to make this show happen, and God-damn if we didn't get started by 10:36pm .....now we certainly had our share of problems......no sound-check and worse yet no in-ear monitor check, lighting issues, grounding issues .........the first 40 minutes of the show were quite event filled....but we played!!!! All of the above issues were reasons to NOT play this show....we haven't been to Badger Bowl in over a year and never with the Tribute Band, so we really wanted this show to be a home-run. Well it was maybe a triple with 2 runs batted in. We definitley couldn't have pulled it off at all without the hard work and dedication of our crew Flaggy, Jamie and Jeremy filling in for Brian on monitors. It was a true team effort and thanks to everyone .
The show after the first 40 minutes or so soared along as one of the best performances of SEPARATE WAYS since the bands inception 4 years ago . The crowd seemed to be oblivious to the on-stage issues we were dealing with so thats a good thing. SW did 2 plus hours of JOURNEY classics and then gave way to a 45 minute REPLICA set that seemed to really please those in attendance. I really want another shot at Badger Bowl......i'd like to go on-stage stress-free and see what could happen, but for this week all things considered i'm very happy!!!
Thanks to our Madison fans for showing up especially Glinda and Oz and Monkey.....was great to see you and it was awesome that you remembered Flaggy and Todds birthdays.....i wish i could have had some cake it looked REALLY good.....but my waist-line couldn't have handled it.......MC said it was excellent!!!!
Til next time
