;DYes, made it back barely in one piece from a trip w/ my mother to the Amana Colonies in Iowa. It was a ....polka of all things BUS TRIP. I made it out alive and barely. The bus took 57 of us on Friday at noon and we returned yesterday afternoon. Of course there's always something happening so the bus driver overlooked stopped traffic ahead of us and slammed on the breaks which meant a poor little thing in the back had a head laceration - nice start! Had to call 911 and we were actually a block away from it on a main highway - that was a plus there.
The polka band are guys in there early 50's and have played since they were 17!!! STILL GOING!!! So Replica has a ways to catch up right. So my name was the "POLKA VIRGIN" or PV and I hung with guess who??.... the BASS PLAYERS WIFEY - sounds a little familiar. By Sat. afternoon she and I were exhausted and didn't know how these old timers do it. We got to shop together, eat together, and play euchre. I just pretended it was the Replica gang the whole time to keep my sanity going. Then we were invited to hang in another key band RV's that was there who are heading to play in CHINA. Everytime they would say something of interest I had to chime in "Rock on!". Just to annoy the hell out of them - ha! It was truly a different culture there and well planned for entertaining some wonderful people that just love this kind of music they grew up with.
When I got home I had tunes in my head that I had to get out and get to the Replica website for the rescue. I have to say that in seeing a musicians life with as much as they give others is amazing and most don't understand or can even fathom that musician families don't have it "made" - that's for sure. Hats off to all musicians that are so giving of their talents for others to enjoy. While being part of that group, its wonderful to see the once lonesome widow or widower find new friends thru music.... so ... "God gave us music (or you can insert, "beer" here) because he loves us and wants us to be happy!" I sooo need a Replifix...oh yeah... I guess that's happening..... soon! I miss y'all, too! ;D ;DPeace out, Da Glenda
