Hey gang,
While Oz is taking her chill pill, I would like to inform everyone of this weekend's gig in our hometown of Monroe...down by the border but not south of the border. Tomorrow begins the festivities of the community for our Cheese Days bi-annual event. We do make the best cheese curds anywhere with a secret recipe that helps fundraise for the Optimist club. Friday night, I'll be behind the magic curtain til 10:30pm working with all the grease and such then Sat. more stuff on the square plus a Cheesemaking Royalty ball with appointed representative King and Queen of Cheese Days whom are actually a cheesemaking couple. It is the Midwests' largest food festival.
Our son will be driving the "Ambassador of Cheese Days" for the parade with my car for me, so that I can be in costume w/ my dog with several others as a group walking the parade route representing both Humane Society and Theatre Guild walking our doggies.
Tonite was an opening event which featured a guest speaker and raised here in town....owner of the SEATTLE SEAHAWKS from 89-97...Ken Behring!! What a story that man has and how he shares his wealth with the world. He is also friends with Nelson Mandela with his newest project of wheelchairs for people in China, Romania, and Africa. In the 60's he hit it big in the car biz then real estate biz in Florida and built the first CONDO along ocean-front property. He's been a real Forrest Gump with being in the right place at the right time! The 3 minute video hit everyones heart for his newest campaign for wheelchairs. What a lifetime achievement for anyone to help so many in this world with his fortunes. I believe more than any Hollywood person has done. :o
A true gem of a man from right here originally from our community....cool, huh? There is also a Blue Fest going on at the fairgrounds but I'm not a "blues" fan. It is a growing event too. OK, now ...Come to Cheese Days (there is a song jingle created years ago we all sing with these words). Have a great weekend..from your local reporter Glinda.....Rock on, gang! :)
